Look at the earnings distributions of various degrees and you'll often
now see a bimodal distribution. The higher peak are the ones who get

flipping and gig work despite having a useful skill.
What makes you think that having a college degree means you
have a useful skill?
That is, in general, the point of the education -- and while there is
not a 1:1 correlation, of course those with an education tend to be more
knowledgeable in most fields.
There are some exceptions, though, in very fast changing fields and the
like.
Nogonads posited that there are people with college degrees who
can't get employment as professionals. I submit that if those
particular people had actually acquired skills useful in their
professions, they would not be flipping burgers for a living.
But you offer no support. Do you also submit that if everyone in a game of
musical chairs was skilled that nobody would be left without a seat?

I'm Native American and I can assure you Blacks and
Hispanics can be every bit as racist as any white person. In fact
Blacks can be worse.
Doesn't matter. The *structural* oppression victimizes black people,
Hispanic people, and native people while it benefits white people.
The question of who is racist was completely irrelevant.

You know what *does* create jobs? *Unmet demand*. And what creates that?
Putting more spending cash in the pockets of the working class and
unemployed.
You know what does that? Personal responsibility. Improving
your talents. Making yourself more valuable to employers.
Classic conservative claptrap, and easily proved wrong.
Don't be ridiculous. "Improving yourself" may not guarantee an
individual's success, but it most certainly improves their odds.
What will increase that demand? Putting more money in the pockets
of their customers, that's what, so kensi is right. As usual.
The problem is, business costs (from government intervention
increasing wages) will go up more than what they can recover from the
"increased demand" (assuming there is any - layoffs might offset the
increased wages).

Sorry, but there is no silver bullet that the government can fire,
that is a "win win".

I think minimum wages should be increased, so that people can survive
on it. But it's naive to think that the increased money in people's
pockets (via government mandate) will spur more business, in a
glorious positive feedback loop.

The market is too "smart" for that. It knows better than any
"committee".

How can it not? It increases market demand, which is the real job creator.

I reject the policy put forth by candidate Yang and/or

minimum wage to $60 an hour (which is what you'd need to
be on the
border of 'low income' as a single person in Dem city

Hyperbole notwithstanding,
Run the numbers.
DYOFHW. Burden of proof is yours, kook.
That should've read: As the sole wage earner in a 4 person
family. It'd
be ~$30 an hour for two working parents (the low income
cutoff is
~118k). But the real point is, if you raise wages to the
$20/hr. you
suggest, all you'd be doing is killing a ton of small
business jobs.
Many small businesses would end up closing their doors, thus
alleviating
competition for corporations (further feeding those
'fatcats'). Gov't
has to be careful where and how they intervene, you guys
don't seem to
understand that. Putting more money into pockets via a fiat
method like
this isn't the way (BTW, the currency itself is already
fiat). You're
also missing a hard and fast truth, no company has any
obligation to pay
anyone 'a living wage', regardless of how that term is
defined. You work
somewhere via a contract that you agree to. Don't like it?
Go somewhere
else. Don't like the idea of this system? Move to another
country. Don't
like the prospect that you'll only ever get sh*t jobs? Get
an education

a couple of taxpayer funded degrees and troll usenet for a

There are so many people who almost *refuse* to be reasonable, and

Wrong: obviously, Nadegda needs proof.
Now supply some or retract your k'lame, k0Ok!
Carroll's "proof" is he brags about his obsession and stalking of me
and says anyone who does that would come to the same unsupported
conclusions.
Oy. Does he realize how much he shoots himself in the foot?
It's just kookscreed from a hater and proves nothing.
Why are you pretending you know anything about him? The guy used to
regularly posts 3000 posts a month just using his 'Snit' handle, this
doesn't count all his forgeries and puppet crap. He killed 3 newsgroups
before going to the one you're in... which he's working on now with your
help.
Proof, ko0k?
Carroll sees post counts as a competition... hence a part of the
reason for his flood bot and socks. Just keep in mind he has said his
flood bot requires manual intervention to actually post.
if it changes his e-mail address it doesn't add to his post count
Right... exactly.

cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel
somehow superior by attacking the messenger.

They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.

Time to trigger the right-wing snowflakes again. Melt, snowflakes, melt!
Time to trigger the right-wing snowflakes again. Melt, snowflakes, melt!
Your jealousy of me is showing again
'Disgusted by' is not the same as "jealousy". You tagged the taxpayers for 2
degrees that you aren't using...
Proof, kook? I keep seeing people assert, without evidence, that Snit is
unemployed. Why is this?
Is this a serious question? Does he appear employable to you? The guy
can't read, has a serious issue with reality and lies his ass off every
chance he gets... and those are his good points.
That isn't proof.
No one who has watched Snit on usenet for many years needs any more
proof.
Here you are admitting you "watch" me.
Here, I'm admitting many have... and they've done more than just
"watch": <http://www.cosmicpenguin.com/snitlist.html>

Here you are confusing information about me with information about the
voice in your head...
No, you actually did post all throughout the day and night, to the point
where I thought 'Snit' was a group of college kids performing some kind
of social experiment to see reactions.
Keep in mind you are spewing shit to badmouth me and try to fish for
information.
Nah, you gave more info than anyone needed to see what you are. You do
it every single day.

absolutely bonkers he does not know even the name of my current

Stop already, no one with a brain buys it.

Look at the earnings distributions of various degrees and you'll often
now see a bimodal distribution. The higher peak are the ones who get
jobs using those degrees. The lower peak have been stuck with burger
flipping and gig work despite having a useful skill.
Not in this economy. Her(?) other beef is 'jobs in their field', a thing
that can fluctuate quite a bit for a number of reasons.
