Look at the earnings distributions of various degrees and you'll often
now see a bimodal distribution. The higher peak are the ones who get
jobs using those degrees. The lower peak have been stuck with burger
flipping and gig work despite having a useful skill.
What makes you think that having a college degree means you
have a useful skill?
That is, in general, the point of the education -- and while there is
not a 1:1 correlation, of course those with an education tend to be more
knowledgeable in most fields.
There are some exceptions, though, in very fast changing fields and the
like.
Nogonads posited that there are people with college degrees who
can't get employment as professionals. I submit that if those
particular people had actually acquired skills useful in their
professions, they would not be flipping burgers for a living.
But you offer no support. Do you also submit that if everyone in a game of
musical chairs was skilled that nobody would be left without a seat?

I'm Native American and I can assure you Blacks and
Hispanics can be every bit as racist as any white person. In fact
Blacks can be worse.
Doesn't matter. The *structural* oppression victimizes black people,
Hispanic people, and native people while it benefits white people.
The question of who is racist was completely irrelevant.

How did they move, did they switch or get it on their next new desktop
computer? Here are the (alleged) numbers from Wikipedia:

"In the area of desktop and laptop computers, Microsoft Windows is
generally above 70% in most markets and at 78% globally, Apple's macOS
at around 14%, Google's ChromeOS at about 3% (in North America) and
Linux at around 2%."

"This is yet another example where when a product is free and good it
gets noticed... it gains a decent user base. Desktop Linux, of
course, stays at around 1% because it has not earned what Firefox

systems
And yet didn't people moved to ChromeOS at a MUCH higher rate.
How did they move, did they switch or get it on their next new desktop
"In the area of desktop and laptop computers, Microsoft Windows is
generally above 70% in most markets and at 78% globally, Apple's macOS

Much of the plan: make it work and make it be usable to the general user.

It is a good plan.

You know what *does* create jobs? *Unmet demand*. And what creates that?
Putting more spending cash in the pockets of the working class and
unemployed.
You know what does that? Personal responsibility. Improving
your talents. Making yourself more valuable to employers.
Classic conservative claptrap, and easily proved wrong.
Don't be ridiculous. "Improving yourself" may not guarantee an
individual's success, but it most certainly improves their odds.
What will increase that demand? Putting more money in the pockets
of their customers, that's what, so kensi is right. As usual.
The problem is, business costs (from government intervention
increasing wages) will go up more than what they can recover from the
"increased demand" (assuming there is any - layoffs might offset the
increased wages).

Sorry, but there is no silver bullet that the government can fire,
that is a "win win".

I think minimum wages should be increased, so that people can survive
on it. But it's naive to think that the increased money in people's
pockets (via government mandate) will spur more business, in a
glorious positive feedback loop.

The market is too "smart" for that. It knows better than any
"committee".

Idiot.

Let's just mandate a minimum wage of, say, $40 an hour. Think of the

It's about as dumb as when right-wingers claim that cutting taxes

math that shows that the upside is greater than the downside?
Lots of sources for it, but here is one:

https://edlabor.house.gov/imo/media/doc/FactSheet-RaisingTheMinimumWageIsGoodForWorkers,Businesses,andTheEconomy-FINAL.pdf
-----
• Raising the minimum wage does not kill jobs. Leading economists have
found that increases in the minimum wage have no discernible effect on
employment, including employment in high-impact sectors like restaurants
and retail.

• Recent experience in cities that have raised their minimum wages
provides further support. San Francisco increased its tipped minimum
wage to $12.25, before tips, and experienced positive job growth in the
leisure and hospitality industry the following year.

• Raising the minimum wage increases consumer spending and boosts the
economy. A study by Doug Hall and David Cooper estimated that a $2.55
increase in the minimum wage would increase the earnings of low-wage
workers by $40 billion and result in a significant increase in GDP and
employment.

• A raise in the minimum wage predominantly benefits low-wage workers,
precisely those most likely to put additional income directly back into
the economy, kick starting a virtuous cycle of greater demand for goods
and services, job growth, and increased productivity.

LOL! Psyche degree fail!
Your jealousy of my education is YOUR issue.

And below you insist in speaking for me... or in confusing the voice in
your head you have named after me for the ACTUAL me.

And then you mock the idea of corporations being responsible for what
they want to buy. You can deny it all you want, and yes, I have said
there may be SOME place for socializing their costs of labor, but
overall let them pay their own way.

You then claim they do cover their own costs but offer, of course, no
support. But if they do that is great. Then the reduction in socializing
the costs of corporations will have less impact on them. I am fine with
that.

Then you snipped and ran from this:

Of course you did -- it does not fit your extreme right wing agenda.
The idea that corporate welfare is strictly a
right wing deal is absurd. Even Obama grew up and realized that a thing
like the import export bank is necessary, a bank he once claimed was
little more than a fund for it. Your earlier statement, that employers
should be held responsible... blah, blah... is a fail, too. The vast
majority of them already do cover their costs, your beef is corporate
employers who get 'incentives' to help do it. In regards to that, your
other fail...
"You hire someone for a job, YOU pay them and do not demand that the cost be socialized."
.... is evidenced by the fact that a business should be allowed to cover
their costs any legal way they can. The reason we elect politicians is
to do what you're trying to foist onto businesses... and you do that as
you call it 'right wing' socialism. IOW, you've conflated too many of
your parroted points and came up with your usual confusion ;)

That should've read: As the sole wage earner in a 4 person
family. It'd
be ~$30 an hour for two working parents (the low income
cutoff is
~118k). But the real point is, if you raise wages to the
$20/hr. you
suggest, all you'd be doing is killing a ton of small
business jobs.
Many small businesses would end up closing their doors, thus
alleviating
competition for corporations (further feeding those
'fatcats'). Gov't
has to be careful where and how they intervene, you guys
don't seem to
understand that. Putting more money into pockets via a fiat
method like
this isn't the way (BTW, the currency itself is already
fiat). You're
also missing a hard and fast truth, no company has any
obligation to pay
anyone 'a living wage', regardless of how that term is
defined. You work
somewhere via a contract that you agree to. Don't like it?
Go somewhere
else. Don't like the idea of this system? Move to another

like the prospect that you'll only ever get sh*t jobs? Get
an education

Notice Carroll offers NOTHING that he actually backs... most
if not all
if could just be dismissed... it is utterly devoid of

entirely devoid of any reasoned comment.

Beggars can't be choosers,
Right... it *so* bad even beggars from other countries are
choosing to
come here illegally... and we let them.
You mean the ones you tell to go back to their own countries
to fix them
even as you tell those trying to fix this country to leave.
See: your hypocrisy is just stunning!
dipshit, and there are too many people desperate
for work and too few jobs.
Can't you guys get your stories straight? One minute it's
'we need all
these illegals to do the jobs Americans won't do', the next
it's 'too few
jobs'. You're sharing Snit's meds, aren't you? Be careful
with that
sh*t, you saw what it did to him.
Get an education
And end up in hock up to your eyeballs with student debt

If your point is that the education system fails too many,

Look at the earnings distributions of various degrees and you'll
often
now see a bimodal distribution. The higher peak are the ones who get
jobs using those degrees. The lower peak have been stuck with burger
flipping and gig work despite having a useful skill.
What makes you think that having a college degree means you
have a useful skill?
That is, in general, the point of the education -- and while there
is not a 1:1 correlation, of course those with an education tend to
be more knowledgeable in most fields.
There are some exceptions, though, in very fast changing fields and
the like.
you should get up in the morning and post , " no "
then at the end of the day you should post and say , " see i was

No.
see how much time that saves
See, I was right.

Proof, kook? I keep seeing people assert, without evidence, that
Snit is
unemployed. Why is this?
Is this a serious question? Does he appear employable to you? The guy
can't read, has a serious issue with reality and lies his ass off every
chance he gets... and those are his good points.
That isn't proof.
No one who has watched Snit on usenet for many years needs any more
proof.
Wrong: obviously, Nadegda needs proof.
Now supply some or retract your k'lame, k0Ok!
It's just kookscreed from a hater and proves nothing.
Why are you pretending you know anything about him? The guy used to
regularly posts 3000 posts a month just using his 'Snit' handle, this
doesn't count all his forgeries and puppet crap. He killed 3 newsgroups
before going to the one you're in... which he's working on now with your
help.
Proof, ko0k?
i believe it that's all the proof i need

Such as when you demand rights you deny others. Sure. Or when you make up

'Disgusted by' is not the same as "jealousy". You tagged the taxpayers for 2

Here you are confusing information about me with information about the
voice in your head...
No, you actually did post all throughout the day and night, to the point
where I thought 'Snit' was a group of college kids performing some kind
of social experiment to see reactions.
Keep in mind you are spewing shit to badmouth me and try to fish for
information.
Nah, you gave more info than anyone needed to see what you are. You do
it every single day.

At least you do not seek to hide it as much as you used to.
But keep in mind you are merely doing Google searches and showing
what you find AND what you seed. And your goal is to shine the
light away from you and to fish for more information. >
Here, I'm admitting many have... and they've done more than just

You admit you watch / stalk me -- and your counter is you have
obsessively scavenged and forged quotes so it means you are not the only
one? You realize you are merely making yourself look worse with your
admission here.

Here you are confusing information about me with information about
the voice in your head... and, remember, you post a LOT more than I
do, when you include your bot (which you have said requires manual
action to post) and your socks.
But, really, why make it a competition? Why do you feel the need to
compare yourself with me at all?
Notice you dodge the question and then go back to your insults and
accusations and insanity as you pretend you do not post a LOT more than
I do, when you include ALL of your names and accounts.

But it is still not a competition. To me. To you it clearly is.

Nah, you gave more info than anyone needed to see what you are. You do
it every single day.
You can deny it, but you are doing it as you make up claims about my
life -- even contradictory ones. For example, sometimes you insist I am
NOT employable, thus should likely be on public assistance (though when
you are in this mode you do not pretend to know if I am), yet other
times you insist I *am* on public assistance (more so than you,
presumably) but insist I COULD work and am scamming the system.

Of course you never complain about the handouts the wealthy get. Paying
for food subsidies and more for them is just not something you concern
yourself with... but you not only demonize the poor, you use variations
of "you are poor!" as an insult.

Not in this economy. Her(?) other beef is 'jobs in their field', a thing
that can fluctuate quite a bit for a number of reasons.

Regarding this specific issue, you were lumped with "Just Wondering".

Even the best efforts are no guarantee of success, even in this
economy.

I might add that there is something to be said for education in the

bleak, if all educations were about acquiring jobs skills.

Most valuable skills are learned on the job, anyway.

Perhaps. Nevertheless, someone who obtains a liberal arts degree
may not have useful skills that qualify them for employment in
their field of study. They may in fact be qualified in the job
market for anything more complicated than flipping burgers.

Regarding this specific issue, you were lumped with "Just Wondering".
Even the best efforts are no guarantee of success, even in this
economy.
I might add that there is something to be said for education in the
liberal (nothing to do with politics) arts.  Our world would be rather
bleak, if all educations were about acquiring jobs skills.
Agreed.
Perhaps.  Nevertheless, someone who obtains a liberal arts degree
may not have useful skills that qualify them for employment in
their field of study.  They may in fact be qualified in the job
market for anything more complicated than flipping burgers.

Most valuable skills are learned on the job, anyway.
how do they make hookers
The same way they make slicers - lousy golf instructors?    :)

Nogonads posited that there are people with college degrees who
can't get employment as professionals.  I submit that if those
particular people had actually acquired skills useful in their
professions, they would not be flipping burgers for a living.
Not in this economy.

There are some exceptions, though, in very fast changing fields and the
like.

Not in this economy. Her(?) other beef is 'jobs in their field', a thing
that can fluctuate quite a bit for a number of reasons.
Did she say otherwise?

You merely insinuated she said otherwise... but not even you will
directly say it. Fair enough... one of your many silly games.

A guy named Jefferson Davis once thought as you do. Ask how well that
worked out for him.
Then you believe we will need another civil war?
You assholes seem hell-bent on bringing one about. Which is stupid, since
the same thing will happen as happened last time: you will lose.
As I recall it was the Democrats that last. Seems Abraham Lincoln
was a member of the GOP, a republican. Ulysses S. Grant also a member
of the GOP.
Robert E Lee was a Democrat. Jefferson Davis President of the south
was also a Democrat. You see the liberals have always been losers and
reject freedom. You know users to the max.
Surely you will join modern liberal Democrats in denouncing the honoring of
symbols of slavery and racial oppression. You will surely back the placing
of such horrible reminders of our past — and sadly our present — and have
them put in museums where the history and legacy can be taught.
Right?
So Dems can pretend they didn't do what we all know they did? I prefer
we add plaques to the statues that explain some of the history. Much
cheaper and there's nothing wrong with having reminders of the past. I
can see why you'd like to hide it, though, it keeps the 'plantation'
concept around, a thing you'd like to disappear so as not to have a
single reminder that many are still living on the Dem plantation.

People should be held accountable for their own views. But you want to hold
modern liberal diverse Democrats accountable for the bigotry you and many
modern conservative white Christian right wingers back now, but not hold
you and other right wingers back.

It is weird.

Personal accountability matters. When you back the honoring of symbols of
slavery and racial oppression INSTEAD of taking those symbols and putting
them in museums where the history can be better taught, you should be held
accountable for your backing of bigotry.

When modern liberal Democrats denounce past conservative Democrats they
should not be held accountable for the actions of those they denounce.

But we have covered this and you repeatedly fail to get the concept of
personal responsibility and move to identify politics.

Democrats still use minorities they do little to nothing for the
long term benefits of minorities especially blacks. Every election
they buy votes.

Here is a example

Sadly this lady is so stupid she doesn't even know a republican
started that program.

Sadly the liberals are so stupid I bet most don't know Abraham
Lincoln was Republican. That would be a good question to ask for a
youtube video at Berkeley and UCLA even Harvard.

Time to trigger the right-wing snowflakes again. Melt, snowflakes, melt!
Your jealousy of me is showing again
'Disgusted by' is not the same as "jealousy". You tagged the taxpayers for 2
degrees that you aren't using...
Proof, kook? I keep seeing people assert, without evidence, that Snit is
unemployed. Why is this?
Is this a serious question? Does he appear employable to you? The guy
can't read, has a serious issue with reality and lies his ass off every
chance he gets... and those are his good points.
That isn't proof. It's just kookscreed from a hater and proves nothing.
Pretty much.
that's waste.
Provisionally granting your questionable premise: No.
A lot of people with degrees are out of work. It is not by choice.
He never put his degrees to use and he never will, that's waste of the
taxpayer money that was used to indoctrin, uh... educate him.
But if it's not by his choice, it's not *him* causing the waste, is it?
And it is also not something Carroll even knows. It is driving him
absolutely bonkers he does not know even the name of my current
business. He is so clearly desperate to know more about it so he can
harass me more.
The
private sector has deemed them "surplus to requirements". They decided
to hire only so many engineers, CS grads, lawyers, or whatever and
never returned the phone calls or resumes of the rest.
[snip jealous foaming by Snit's business rival]
Self-serving babble that proves nothing.
Carroll is competing with me and deeming himself the loser... and I
could not care less who "wins". If he actually made some decent sites I
would be happy for him.
He cannot understand that concept.
Look at the earnings distributions of various degrees and you'll often
now see a bimodal distribution. The higher peak are the ones who get
jobs using those degrees. The lower peak have been stuck with burger
flipping and gig work despite having a useful skill.
Having a degree nowadays often doesn't equate to having a useful skill set.
The degrees I mentioned are all technical degrees widely used in industry,
not Klingon Lit. So your deflection attempt fails.
LOL!
They are lucky if
one of the part-time gigs they get uses their degree, and still need
to ask people if they want fries with that to supplement.
I dunno where you get your data from but even as far back as April of
And what was the unemployment-in-their-own-field rate?
BINGO! This was the key point Carroll missed.
I told him it would be obvious to others.
The plain
unemployment rate counts an engineering graduate as "employed" whether she's
an engineer making $150K a year building bridges or a Wal-Mart greeter getting
$9.75 an hour and only called in for about two hours a week.
Or working two or three low wage jobs to try to make ends meet.
If people with degrees aren't working it has nothing to do with a lack
of jobs, probably more to do with a lack of work ethic. First timers
have issues but it's better than they had a decade ago (some of them are
still recovering). It's not exactly news that companies value actual
experience over a given degree in many jobs grads apply for. With the
current state of education, no one can blame them.
You realize the problem with what you're pushing, right? If you need
experience to get a job in these fields, then nobody new will ever get a
job in these fields will they? And then how in the blue FUCK are you
expecting them to pay off their student loans, or not to have "wasted"
their education, eh, kook? You've painted yourself into a corner again.
Carroll is pretty clearly angry about how his life is turning out. He
whines about it a lot.
The left wing are the ones that sold the bill of goods to kids about
college and did so *as* they didn't prepare them for the real world.
What the hell is that supposed to mean, kook?
It is meant to be a random insult to put you on the defensive and change
the topic from his admission of stalking me.
Carroll ran away denying what he shows, above.
